Volunteers are what make Midwest Food Bank so special. Examples of volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to:

  • Repackaging bulk foods into smaller quantities for distribution
  • Sorting, Inspecting and repackaging food and non-food items
  • Administrative work in the office
  • Driving the small truck to pick up food and other donations
  • General cleaning and maintenance around the facility
  • Landscaping work
  • Serving during monthly Load-Out days.  Reservation is not required for our Load Out days.  Click the link for our Load Out/Distribution Calendar: 2018 Distribution calender

We also have volunteer opportunities for drivers with a CDL driver's license for local and long distance trips

We provide a great team building experience for groups to come out and serve together during the day, evenings and weekends.  If you have a group you would like to schedule to volunteer, contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Danielle Biggs at

Plan on scheduling your group at least 2-3 months in advance.

We have no age restrictions (except for Load out days, 14 year old minimum).  We encourage families to come and serve together.

For all volunteer activities, Closed Toed shoes are required.

As a reminder, most work is conducted in a warehouse environment, safety is paramount.
